Creating Sustainable Supply Systems
for Delivering Humanitarian Assistance

Sustainability is a popular word these days. It certainly also applies to humanitarian and health supply chains. The humanitarian context is changing fast, case load is increasing, sources of funding are both shifting and decreasing, and complex disasters stretch our knowledge and experience. Hence, sustainable supply chains undoubtedly become a crucial component of humanitarian aid.

It is clear that future challenges cannot be handled by a single sector. There is a need to improve multi-sectorial collaboration and partnerships. However, there is no platform where all stakeholders (humanitarians, business people, military, academics, foundations, government officials) can meet and engage in high level discussions on their respective roles and how to better complement one another. Nevertheless, success with sustainability will hinge on these open stakeholder discussions.

This conference aims to be this platform where high level experts from all sectors meet. It is striving to become a yearly summit on humanitarian and health supply chains in a broad context, i.e., supply chains as a basis for action to improve sustainability through multi-sectorial efforts.

The conference is a continuation of the Georgia Tech conference and is organized in close collaboration between THE KLU-INSEAD Research Center on Humanitarian Logistics, HLA (the Humanitarian Logistics Association), and Georgia Tech.
